On International Women’s Day it is fun to take a look back at the move and remodel of the Loveland Dance Academy. This month is the 5th Anniversary of our move to the remodeled building for Loveland Dance Academy! As a partner, entrepreneur and mother this was one of the best projects I have ever undertaken. Not only was it a challenging remodel but it included being closely involved with my two adult children, Katie and Richard, as well as my long-term business partners Katie and Jenni.

Loveland Dance Academy studio before remodelFor three women business owners of two dance studios this was a huge challenge in October 2012. After ten years of dance at our studio location at Fourth Street and Garfield, the partners of the Loveland Dance Academy (Jenni, Linda and Katie) purchased a 100-year-old building at 440 N Lincoln. I must like old buildings because I purchased a 100-year-old building in Greeley 24 years ago for the Conservatory Dance Studio. Old buildings are certainly a challenge!

Once we found the right location in downtown Loveland, the real work began with our ambitious goal to open the doors the first of March 2013. We hired Richard McSwain of MC Squared Design Studio as our general contractor and architectural designer for the remodel. Let the fun begin! For five months I worked along side Richard, his team of sub-contractors and his ever-present dog Ellie. I demolished walls, scraped carpet off the floors, hauled debris to the construction dumpsters and sanded the brick wall in Studio B for many days.

It seemed like forever before the new walls started going up and the dance floors were going down. By the end of February we started moving mirrors, costumes and office supplies into our newly remodeled dance studio. Many hands make for easier work and there were many dancers and families (and partners!) who helped in this remodeling process. Thank you to each of you again!

Loveland Dance Academy has filled the space with many new dancers and families during these past five years. As a matter of fact, we could use some more room! So don’t be surprised if you see some new addition popping up around here. I might be calling upon Ellie and MC Squared Design Studio in the near future. Come see the Loveland Dance Academy.
